Bharathi Cement commissions 10MW solar power plant

India’s Bharathi Cement has commissioned a 10MW solar power plant at its 5Mta cement works in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh. The facility is expected to help cut the company’s overall energy costs by reducing its reliance on thermal power. The project was delivered by Fourth Partner Energy in a record 60 days, according to a company press release. The power plant is part of Bharathi’s long-term plan to transition to renewable energy.

Hyderabad-based Bharathi Cement is aiming to strengthen its presence in western and eastern India with new plants and products, according to The Economic Times. Vicat's turnover improved by 25.5% in 2011 to €2265.5m, but the profitability declined, mainly because of Egypt and to a lesser extent the United States, and the EBITDA came off by 2.6% to €490.9m, while the trading profit declined by 8.1% to €309.5m.
